"This is my show motherfuckers!"

Direct quote from Tori at the 6-22 Bratislava, Slovakia show. I hope someone gets a video of this shiznit! Tori is playing along, and people keep coming down front to sit in the aisle, and security has to keep asking people to go back to their seats. One guy comes and sits down during Toris solo time, and wont move. He and security get into a whisper argument, and Tori screams- "What the fuck is going on down there?" But they dont even acknowledge the screaming Tori so she screams again and throws her right shoe at them. But apparently it was a piss poor throw because it didnt come close, so she throws her left shoe at them, and her body guard jumps down from the stage and hauls the guy out of the venue. Tori stops and says, "lets try something else, and please give those shoes back" Then Tori played Winter-- best angry tori moment ever. It is ranking right up there with the Gold dist "Fuck you" moment, the "lady in the white shirt outburst" and the "middle figure coupled with the eat my pussy growl" from the waitress in las vegas on ppv!!! I wish tori would throw her shoe at me. She also has a leopard print jumpsuit

My life in Tori shows

Being a tori-freak for over a decade- I've actually been privy to more tours than I realized. I did miss out on the LE, UTP, and DDI tours, but I've more than made up for what I missed out on. I have been able to go to 8 shows over the course of 6 tours. With the ADP tour coming up- and since I'm located in Florida a tour- hot spot I'm really hoping I'll be able to up my number of shows attended quite a bit. I guess being a tori fan wasn't just a passing phase for me: "I've been working it since Iz 14" -- what do I have to show for all this Tori-touring? Well, I met her had a picture with her- back in 2001- and unfortunately, it was kept on a floppy disc which melted in the glove box of my car. She signed my Boys for pele liner notes- which I think is somewhere in my parent's house, and I had a bunch of ticket stubs, which also are unfortunately lost in my parent's house along with ALL my pictures of me with my favorite comedians etc- my ani difranco autograph from Florence, my Beth Gibbons autograph, my paula poundstone autograph, me and amy sedaris, me and swoosie kurtz, me and mc hammer-- for shame. I have to find that little photo book!

Below are the Tori shows I've been to- dates and my age:
Original Sinsuality -Chicago- August 31- 05 21
Lotta Pianos -Chicago, navy pier- august '03 19
Scarlet's Walk - chicago- 2 shows, November 02 18
Strange Little Tour chicago, minneapolis Oct, 01 17
5 1/2 weeks tinley park, Il- Sept 11, '99 - 15
Plugged '98 --Ames, Ia July 18 (this was my first time seeing Tori- I was 14

Dew Drop Inn -no shows ('96 - this when I got into Tori- I was 12, but unfortunately was not able to go to any shows)

The tours below occured when I did not know who Tori was:
Under the Pink - no shows ('94 I was 10)
Little Earthquakes - no shows '92 (I was 8)

tori eating cupcakes

should I write for a tori book?

I'm interested in writing something about tori for this article, but I don't know what yet...

Subject: CFP: Tori Amos Collection (9/30/07; collection)

"Blood Roses: The Cultural Witchcraft of Tori Amos"

With the release of her latest 2007 album, "American Doll Posse," Tori Amos has once again produced a unique piece of aggressive counter-culture, proving that she has lost none of her subversive and critical edge since she first amazed us with "Little Earthquakes." Inventive and hermetic with her lyrics, always political in interviews, creative and provocative in marketing her albums and tours, and passionately committed to a variety of social causes, Tori Amos remains a figure of considerable power and endurance within the fleeting world of alternative rock and roll. Unlike Madonna, who has redefined what it means to be a global celebrity a queer icon, Tori has more subtly maintained her status as a globally successful musician, activist, poet, and sexually ambiguous performer.

This volume will include essays on any aspect of Tori's music, performance, lyrics, politics, or history. Work that engages with her new album is especially welcome, as well as work that explores the interdisciplinary connections in her song-writing (her shared references with Neil Gaiman and the "Sandman" comics, for instance, and her interest in magic and the occult).

Publisher information will be forthcoming, but I anticipate strong interest.

Bloggy bloggy blog

Since Tori's album has been released-- I was going to discontinue bloggy, but I think I'll keep him around, since I love him a lot. Now I'm counting down to the tour of the US! Can't wait.

The picture above is of the lovely and awesomely talented Miranda July, whose new book "No One Belongs Here More Than You" just came out and is fantastic and full of really cool stories!

The state of the media!

Wow-- today, not 1, but 2 journalists gave completely false info regarding the Tori. First they said that she would be appearing on stage with 'NickelCreek" at a festival in August-- but they mistook the T for Fiona Apple. Then there was an article published that Tori and Alanis were teaming up for "the 5 1/2 Weeks Tour"-- which happened one time, and one time only back in the year 1999!!! Which I clearly remember going and seeing said- Tori and Alanis play together on Sept. 11 1999 in Tinley Park in Chicago-- wow- that is someone not checking their facts. If they can't get Tori news right- then don't believe anything about Iraq!

Changing topics--
I miss my PJ Harvey and am eagering awaiting a new album. She is due-- I was thinking, "well, she did just have one come out" then I remembered that the last came out in June of 2004 so it's been quite awhile. I would love to see PJ tour, I saw her in 2001 and in again in support of UH Huh Her was that 2004 then? I came across her demos of her first cd "Dry" on room509.net in the music section so you all should go and listen.

I love this version of God-- with the "you dropped a bomb on me" in the middle--3:30 into it-- this song really heats up-- check out Tori playing frantically on the edge of her piano bench and the "come on and do it again" complete with a flipping of the bird and a tori crotch grab at 4:50-- oh, the joy! I can only hope she'll roll it out in this style for the upcoming tour.

Tori's piano bench

Tori just said in an interview, that in concert she has to have her piano and vocal monitors at a certain level so she can hear herself, but she has to turn down the drum and bass because it will blow her ears out. So for the bass player to feel the rhythm of the band they put the monitor in the carpet and it vibrates so he can stand on a carpet and feel the drum beat, and they do the same for the drummer, but because Tori has her pedals etc-- she had the engineers rig her vibrating rhythm thing in her piano seat.

We both know they wouldn't mind
If I just curled up and died

Her tentacles of endless want
Reach through my corridors
and tempt me to taste of her power
I sober with the witching hour

And when I hear of one more bomb
Yes we have all been robbed of song
and nightingales who throw their arms up
When is enough enough?"

Review of ADP---

"Just why do they say," Tori Amos ponders on her latest effort, American Doll Posse, "have a nice day anyway?" On a political scale, there's relatively little to smile about these days, of which Amos is well aware, and yet, she's managed to put out her most raucous, infectiously foot-tapping, and pleasingly eclectic record to date. So what gives?

Well, in many ways, American Doll Posse plays like the album Amos has been trying to make for the past seven years. In 2001, she released the much publicized but little-heard StrangeLittleGirls, an album of covers, all originally performed by men about women, with Amos dressing up in character for the album artwork and assuming the tracks' absent (and at times, totally imagined) female voices. Aside from a chilling reading of Eminem's horrific exercise in domestic violence "'97 Bonnie and Clyde" and a soaring, original-besting rendition of Joe Jackson's "Real Men," the album's conceptual jig was up before it even hit record shelves. Curiously enough, though, her press comments about the inspiration to cover Slayer's "Raining Blood"--she likened the track's imagery to a "big juicy vagina raining blood" all over the Taliban's minions--seemed oddly prophetic given that the album was released on September 18, 2001.

In 2002, Amos released Scarlet's Walk, an "on the road" opus which had Amos singing through the vessel of a character named Scarlet, a multi-layered metaphor for the flame-haired singer and the bloodline of America's upsetting history. Though the album, beautiful in its organic simplicity, managed to achieve the consistency of the "sonic narrative" Amos had intended (not to mention the impressive musical double entendre between politics and personal relationships woven into tracks such as "Strange" and "Crazy"), it lacked the edge of records past.

2005 saw the simultaneous release of Amos' biography Piece by Piece and The Beekeeper, an album that, despite some memorable melodies and almost-great tracks, saw Amos floating into the safer waters of adult contemporary. But even on the paint-by-numbers balladry of "Sleeps with Butterflies," Amos' lyrical delivery and metaphorical imagery would prove too sore a thumb for radio and see her greatest commercial failure in terms of record sales. Regardless, the winking, fierce character studies she had so immersed herself in years earlier remained strong on tracks such as the Mary Magdalene epic "Marys of the Sea" and the mournful composite voices of mothers and wives losing their children and husbands to war in "Mother Revolution."

Now, with American Doll Posse, Amos seems to have come to a new turning point only hinted at in past offerings: collaborating with herself. Amos describes the album as a novel told through the perspective of five distinct characters--Isabel, Santa, Pip, Clyde, and Tori--all born of Greek mythology, the "dismembered feminine re-membered." Accordingly, Amos is again dressing for the role, even taking her posse out on tour (each night, a different member of the posse will open the show and "Tori" will assume performance duties about one-third into the set). There's more to this concept--a 36 page booklet, liner notes distinguishing character vocals, individual blogs--but strangely enough, when the music begins, the bold contrivance (regardless of how creative or irrelevant one may argue it to be) of the concept just fades away. And what we're left with is what will likely be considered by fans and critics alike her best album since 1998's from the choirgirl hotel. And though it may appear that Amos is trying to distance herself from the more blatantly political spats of the mournful "Yo, George" ("Is this just the madness of King George?/Yo, George/you have the whole nation on all fours") and the anti-war anthem album closing of "Dark Side of the Sun" ("How many young men/have to lay down/their life/and their love/of their woman/for some sick promise/of a Heaven?"), American Doll Posse plays, oddly enough, like the most autobiographical album of Amos' career.

"Teenage Hustling," a thunderous blend of Queen-esque vocals and shrieking electric guitar over Amos' own accusatory, banshee cries of "You better know/I'm at your door," recalls her early days of playing gay bars in Washington DC under the watchful eye of minister father. It is Amos' response to the hypocritical church crowd and their "dirty dealings" which transitions and travels decades later and ends with Amos lashing out at the record executives who would rather "skank around with...talentless trash." It's an unexpected and effective track and it sets the album's grungier tone. Tracks like "Code Red" and the maniacally sensual "Body and Soul"--with its thumping drums, incendiary bass line, and and menacing chorus, bound to be canonized as a classic track in her catalog--remind us of Amos' innate ability to simultaneously punch her listener in the gut and blanket him with goosebumps. There's an urgency to these songs, a gutteral, driving force that hasn't been present in Amos' music for some time.

There's also a fractured sensibility to the songs on Posse. On several tracks, such as "Beauty of Speed," "Almost Rosey," and the lulling dancebeat-infused lament of "Bouncing off Clouds"--there's something off about the production, something unpredictable about where the arrangement is going. This might be considered faint praise to most, but in Amos' case, coming off of the extreme razzle dazzle polish of her previous two records, it's exciting to hear her voice trail off under the bouncing wail of guitars, the kitchen-sink drum work, and even the dramatic sweeping brass and quartet sections offered on the tracks "Programmable Soda" and "Girl Disappearing."

That's not to say it's all good, though. Amos, who has proven herself an able balladeer over the years, seems hellbent on including a mellow lovers' farewell on each track and, though she's gotten it right in the past on tracks such as "Baker Baker," "Hey Jupiter," and "Your Cloud," the wistful "Roosterspur Bridge," in spite of a chorus that bests any Top 40 hit out there right now ("Sometimes I think/I think I understand/the fear in the boy/the fire in the man/sometimes I see the wonder in your eyes/That and you leaving/I have memorized"), the track feels forced and certainly of subpar quality when compared to the weight of the album's more impressive tracks. The same goes for "Big Wheel," in which Amos declares herself a "M-I-L-F" and informs a certain someone (a past lover? an old manager? a bastard record suit?) that "baby I don't need your cash/Mama got it all in hand now." It's catchy, certainly, but it feels unfinished, somewhat ill-structured. Furthermore, its vocal delivery is surprisingly subdued for such a sassy number, and as both a single and proper album opener, it provides a misleading tone for the rest of the album. In fact, Amos achieves a similar atmosphere in the sleazy, bar shuffle of "You Can Bring Your Dog," which prompts one to wonder why such two like creatures exist a mere few track skips apart?

The real treasure of the album, though, exists in "Digital Ghost," a Beatles-esque sobber in which she sighs, "The you I knew is fading away." The piano line is exquisite, the electronic and acoustic drum work coupling with fuzzy guitar and bass lines that compliment Amos' mulit-layered vocal harmonies like silk to the skin. It's one of the album's less flashy production numbers and manages to prove the most effective (which may, in the end, say something about less being more for an artist of such immense natural talent, but that's best saved for another article). It is with this track that it becomes clear Amos is not only paying homage to the musical influences that have always driven her, but also to her own past conceptual markings. American Doll Posse may not wholly satisfy all members of Amos' real posse--her rabid fanbase--but, whether you like your Tori with strings and whispery vocals, or with pulsating drums and soaring, seething vocals, or with whimsical metaphor and politely shocking lyrics, all respective members will likely agree that, after some misguided dips into the shallow end of the pop pool, Amos has reemerged, gliding on the crest of the wave, fists ready for the fight.

so Tori is taking her "Posse" a little too far into the depths of her marketing ploy, meet the new posses.

Product Overview
Her 9th studio album - written and producted by Tori herself, was recorded and mixed by Mark Hawley and Marcel van Limbeek at Martian Engineering Cornwall England.
American Doll Posse documents the lives of five women through their respective songs. As a whole the record has become the opportunity for women to reclaim the segmented pieces that habe been cut up within them. Women have been taught to take on specific roles rather than multiple roles. They are supposed to fit into tiny boxes - compartmentalizing. Each girl in American Doll Posse represents a different part of the female psyche and the record explores their individuality as well as how strong they are as a unit.

Tori Amos' new single, "Big Wheel" (Epic), is also heavy on the percussion, a bit of a roots-rocker crossed with KT Tunstall, until it takes a wacky Tori twist and she throws in a drum countdown and naughty bridge before the self- proclaimed hot mama gets back to business, making "Big Wheel" her most likable work in years.

use internet explorer to watch--

toris a little bitchy
"if you can't afford the music, take it. But one day, you have to give back otherwise you become a taker".... etc...

"hold yourself accountable - I don't think theres some kind of universal justice (for the piracy)"

interviewer: "I don't know your spiritual beliefs, but do you believe people will have to pay for this in a spiritual sense?"
Tori "what do you think?"

She discusses SW and how it opened her up to people in the native american community and a medicine man. Says "our actions take us to our next plane in existence...... (snip)... you are choosing your next incarnation... some call it heaven some call it hell... I think heaven and hell are here... this is a free will planet"

my thought: how could the beautiful karma of SW lead her to TBK?! ( to Alex )

discussed his interview with Ray Manzarek and psychodelic drug use... "I know your usage of that has been discussed .... do you still use it for creative purposes"

"If you can get what you need from those, then yes, go for it. I was lucky enough from my journeys with Ayahusca that I had experiences that didn't make me physically ill. Emotionally, it took me to places that I don't think I wouldn't have gotten to without it.... are there other ways to get to that? Yes, I do think there are. There are other people that use certain therapies, hypnosis, fasting in the desert.... so yes, I think it can be very eye opening and yet because it becomes fashion or accessory that it loses soem of its potency."

AMOS LEADS VINYL REVIVAL
Singer/songwriter TORI AMOS has released her new album AMERICAN DOLL POSSE on vinyl, because she hates MP3 players. The SPARK singer, 43, claims digital music devices don't do justice to her music. She says, "I object to the fact that people might listen to my music on these tiny headphones. It can only be a disappointment. I created it for you to crank it up and have a sonic orgasm!... That's why I made American Doll Posse a double album on vinyl. It's a real, concrete structure."

Tori and Britney

Found on a blog I did not write this:

Was Britney Spear’s Rebellion Against Her “Pop Image?” Tori Amos Think So

When someone as respected and beloved as Tori Amos comes to your defense, while you are attempting to reclaim yourself against a tsunami of criticism, then that’s something to be happy about. So is the case for the recently rehabbed pop sensation Britney Spears. Tori recently spoke up about Britney’s troubles and points to Britney’s label as being a part of the problem:

“Whether they’re selling perfume or a song, people have decided they’re a brand. Hollywood did a good job of creating icons in the 30s and 40s, they understood a story. Now, give ‘em a haircut and some clothes and they think they can pull off Aphrodite. Then you have situations like Britney shaving her head. I don’t think her sweet, saccharine image was close to who she really was, and she rebelled.”

Obviously, Britney’s image isn’t the only element in her fall from grace; Britney’s crumbling marriage, dealing with parenthood and substance abuse issues were a bigger part of the problem. But maybe, Britney’s has been trying to tell us something about herself all these years.

From her public kiss with fellow pop-rebel Madonna, to her shredding her pop-tart image for songs like “Toxic” and “I’m A Slave For U,” it’s clear that Britney’s much “darker” than her peers, and quite possibly, has felt trapped in a persona that didn’t closely match who she really was.

Tori Amos’ observations, though simplistic, may in truth be really insightful. More importantly, her experiences make her a credible witness to testify on Britney’s “troubled” behalf. Tori Amos has had her share of hard times too.

Despite their disparate musical stylings, Tori and Britney have a couple things in common and if Tori’s right, both performers began their careers as something different than who they were inside.

Amos began her career in an ill-conceived band in the mid-80’s called “Y Tori Can’t Read.” She recorded one album and was tossed aside for being silly and derivitive of the whole 80’s synth sound - sort of like if Kate Bush sang for Duran Duran. This initial failure was likely her saving grace, as Tori was forced to find her own voice and sound. Which she did with great gusto, paving the way for many of the alternative female singer-songwriters who would come after her (Sarah McLachlan, Jewel, Fiona Apple and Alanis Morissette to name a few.)

Tori had great success in the early 90’s from her first solo album Little Earthquakes, the single “Silent All These Years” and later with “Cornflake Girl” and “Crucify” sealed her status as cult icon. Despite writing quirky, off-kilter songs — on a piano no less — Tori has a rabidly loyal fanbase, has recorded over 10 albums, sold over 15 million records and her new and eagerly anticipated record, American Doll Posse is set to be released on May 1.

Tori, like Britney, knows personal heartache. During her early years in LA, Tori was raped by an acquaintence and wrote about her experience in her song “My And A Gun.” She’s done benefits for RAINN (Rape, Abuse and Incest National Network) a charity designed to help those who are struggling with sexual assault and abuse and has openly spoken out about her abuse in an effort to raise awareness.

Tori, having had her career sidetracked due to an ill-conceived image and having suffered personal trauma, gives her unique perspective to see through the b.s. in Britney’s life and maybe even offer a light at the end of the tunnel for Spears. If Britney can stay focused, and discover who she really is inside, maybe she can reach even greater success with a whole new image - one she can finally be true to.

It might be a stretch to imagine Britney becoming an indie icon like the outrageously talented Tori Amos - but stranger things have happened to lesser people.

We have clips of every song!!!

to listen or not to listen, that is the question? Only 30 second clips so you can't really judge to the full extent. It's more of teenage hustling-- which gets better and better!!! there;s a song called "posse bonus" and she sings, "this is your posse bonus, this is your posse bonus this is your extra track because I like you, cause I like you, okay friend burrow your way to freedom."

Oh my little Milf...

The interviews are beginning to roll in-- MTV title:
Tori Amos Forms Anti-Bush Posse By Mutating Into Greek Goddesses

So Tori is doing her character's on the tour for the first part, and then "Tori" comes out the second part. It's been officially confirmed that tori's real hair will not be making an appearance on the tour. Apparently, it's having a hard time. My mom always said that if I kept dying my hair it would all fall out-- and after seeing semi-recent pics of Tori, I believe her. Years or overstyling, dye and abuse have taken their toll on my favorite faux redhead forcing the tori to wear wigs. Lots of wigs-- God forbid the wig fall off when she tosses her head back while singing. That would be embarrassing.

Tori recently say that she spends a lot more time in Florida than people think. About half the time when she's not working-- tori's house in Florida is so close to mine-- I'm gonna run into her sometime.

Which Tori Amos song are you?

Aren't you just the complicated enigma with some very dark secrets?

Not Enough

It's not enough that Tori herself be pictured on every album, now she has to have at least 5 pictures of her 'self' dressed up on her album cover. Egotistical much, T? Tori kind of must think highly of her self since she says that she represents the most powerful Greek Goddesses on the album--

Each "doll" represents one:

Isabel = Artemisa (front center blonde with camera)

Artemis is the goddess of the wilderness, the hunt and wild animals, and fertility (she became a goddess of fertility and childbirth mainly in cities). She was often depicted with the crescent of the moon above her forehead and was sometimes identified with Selene (goddess of the moon). Artemis was one of the Olympians and a virgin goddess. Her main vocation was to roam mountain forests and uncultivated land with her nymphs in attendance hunting for lions, panthers, hinds and stags. Contradictory to the later, she helped in protecting and seeing to their well-being, also their safety and reproduction. She was armed with a bow and arrows which were made by Hephaestus and the Cyclopes.

Clyde = Persephone (crouching on the left)

Zeus sent Hermes down to Hades to make him release Persephone. Hades grudgingly agreed, but before she went back he gave Persephone a pomegranate (or the seeds of a pomegranate, according to some sources). When she later ate of it, it bound her to underworld forever and she had to stay there one-third of the year. The other months she stayed with her mother. When Persephone was in Hades, Demeter refused to let anything grow and winter began. This myth is a symbol of the budding and dying of nature. In the Eleusinian mysteries, this happening was celebrated in honor of Demeter and Persephone, who was known in this cult as Kore.

Pip = Athena (striking a pose on the far right)

Athena, the Greek goddess of wisdom, war, the arts, industry, justice and skill. She was the favorite child of Zeus. She had sprung fully grown out of her father's head. Her mother was Metis, goddess of wisdom and Zeus' first wife. In fear that Metis would bear a son mightier than himself. Zeus swallowed her and she began to make a robe and helmet for her daughter. The hammering of the helmet caused Zeus great pain in the form of headaches and he cried out in agony. Skilled Hephaestus ran to his father and split his skull open and from it emerged Athena, fully grown and wearing her mother's robe and helmet. She is the virgin mother of Erichthnonius.

Santa = Aphrodite (far left with martini)

In Greek mythology, Aphrodite is the goddess of love, beauty and sexual rapture. According to Hesiod, she was born when Uranus (the father of the gods) was castrated by his son Cronus. Cronus threw the severed genitals into the ocean which began to churn and foam about them. From the aphros ("sea foam") arose Aphrodite, and the sea carried her to either Cyprus or Cythera. Hence she is often referred to as Kypris and Cytherea. Homer calls her a daughter of Zeus and Dione.

Tori = Demeter (?) (little rooster girl)

The Greek earth goddess par excellence, who brings forth the fruits of the earth, particularly the various grains. She taught mankind the art of sowing and ploughing so they could end their nomadic existence. As such, Demeter was also the goddess of planned society. She was very popular with the rural population. As a fertility goddess she is sometimes identified with Rhea and Gaia.

About that blank square below

It's supposed to play a clip of Tori's songs, but it won't work-- cause it's lazy. it's from http://music.aol.com/franchise/firstlisten/tori-amos-new-songs

You're a dirty girl, you're such a dirty girl!

There's a clip of some of Teenage Hustling-- and it is fabulous! I luuurrrvveee it!!
Go to This npr website-- click on listen to whole show, and they start talking about Tori 26 minutes into it, and play teenage hustling at 27:33:
http://www.npr.org/programs/asc/

Speculated lyrics:
You think you can come around here/ All up in his face/ All up in my world/ You better know/ You better know/ You better know-oh-oh/ How much you do/ How much you do/ How much you do-oh-oh/ You better know/ You better know/ You better know-oh-oh/ How much you do/ How much do/ I’m a joke/ You gotta right/ You gotta right/ To know/ You gotta right/ You gotta right/ To know/ Me and my teenage hustling/ I’ve been working it since I was 14/ Me and my teenage hustling/ I’ve been working it since I was 14/ Me and my teenage hustling/ It’s gonna save me/ Save me/ Save me/ Save me/ Save me/ Save me/ Save me/ Save me/ From your dirty dealings/ You’re a dirty girl/ You’re such a dirty girl

Instead of: How much you do/how much you do-oh-oh/I'm a joke
I hear: I'm at your door/I'm at your door-oh-oh/I'm at your-- (or I'm a jew) Jury's still out-- I love Tori's speech impediment, it gets more and more pronounced as the years wear on! The first time I listened to this I had no idea what she was singing, but now that I've listened a few times, I think it's so empowering. "I been working it since I's 14" I love how she sings this-- especially "Save Me, Save Me! You're a dirty girl" -- I love the scolding-- you're a dirty girl!

The Blogs

So Tori released a cryptic audio message to her fans that says that all of the dolls in the posse have created blogs--and that instead of an Easter egg hunt, this season we'll have to have a posse hunt, and find the blogs. So of course 6 million fake ones came up--there are some leads on a few true ones: Isabels is here:http://www.tagworld.com/isabeldocuments this one only seems real because of the camera picture, the conspicuous Tori thumb and the post which looks like Neil Gaiman's work-- and I'm pretty good at spotting it. The other one is on Tori's myspace- for Santa. But I haven't looked at that one. The one some people think is fake is Pip's: http://pipamericandollposse.blogspot.com/
I don't know where Tori is going with this weird marketing. I just want to hear the album damn it!

I want to ride on a white horse...

Allison Goldfrapp is divine! Who doesn't love pizza covered in cigarette butts?

Archetypal Jungian postmodern schemas of Tori

So I've been reading all the Tori news and speculation as it trickles in at the pace of a glacier, pre-global warming. Yesterday and today we did get an actual bit of official tori news, and an audio message from Tori (she's certifiably crazy)

I love this poster's take on what the American doll posse represents (there are also rumors of a 6th secret doll-- ala the rooster:

The cover picture is of the 5 archtypical Jungian postmodern schemas of Tori as a woman musician, and we are the mirrors which reflect that. In reality, there is only one girl in that picture, and that's Tori. All the others are imaginary. The rooster is also the secret 6th girl. It's not a rooster. It's just a really butch lesbian chicken.

To make the marketing even more convuluted Tori released this cryptic audio message yesterday:

Tori’s message:

Hey there, this is Tori. So by now you may have heard about American Doll Posse. I wanted to officially introduce you to the girls. They will all be going on tour. We’re out shopping right now, and I can’t keep a-hold of a-one of them. They’d love to get to know you; they’ve all heard so much about you. You can look for them online. They will all be accessible if you can find their blogs, which they update frequently. Instead of an Easter egg hunt this season, I’m hosting a Posse hunt. Happy hunting.

Okay- Tori, what? They posted 5 blogs that each of the "dolls" created somewhere out there on the internet and all the crazed Tori fans are searching for them? Dear God. As shown above-- Tori's "Strange Little Girls" album from 6 years ago- do we remember that? "American Doll Posse" is like Part II, me thinks.

Behold the Five--- ADP Cover

Meet The Dolls: Santa, Clyde, Isabelle, Tori and Pip. Oh T, she's making fun of herself with the chicken-- and the bible, shame etc. Can't wait to hear it! It's coming soon!!! As Tori sings, "Can't stop what's coming, can't stop what's on it's way, and I hear it coming and it's on it's way!"

Not Tori-- Patti Smith!

This doesn't matter because Patti Smith is the best ever-- she rocks, and I don't care what she looks like, but I'm so confused about her stance on drugs-- she LOOKS like she has done lots, her songs-- when they are not directly referencing drugs, sound like they were written while she was on drugs, but I've read that she is very anti-drugs, (or at least she was) she said when she was a child she had a lot of illnesses and it caused her to want to keep her body healthy and pure, but she sure doesn't look very healthy or pure. Here we have 2006:

Then again, she didn't look all that healthy to begin with-- back 30 years ago in 1976. Free money is a great song-- written about her mother who always dreamed of winning the lottery, but never actually bought a ticket.

This is the year of all my favorite musicians releases. We started off with Patty Griffin's "Children Running Through", we have Patti Smith's cover album, "Twelve" Tori not far behind with "American Doll Posse" PJ Harvey and Portishead are both supposed to release albums this year as well!

Bring back the Shotguns, Snakes, and Dead Chickens!!!

As shown below-- the best cover ever. We've got Mr. Dead Turkey hanging in the left corner, tori's grainsack tunic covering only one leg, mud covered legs, a shotgun, and a snake wrapped around the bottom of her rocking chair.

The new cover is weird- at least there is a dead chicken, and three odd versions of Tori. I don't really know what to make of it-- it's not official yet, so this may be some weird photoshop work, but we'll see-- if this is part of Tori's doll posse, although these ladies look less "American" and more crazy Euro-pagan.

Oh The Glory days----no one does a manic crazy emotional "This Old Man" like Tori! I love how she bosses around the sound engineers!

It Exists...someone heard it!

Tori was inspired for American Doll Posse while she was waiting in line at Starbucks-- see Tori isn't above all the other artists who hang out in coffee shops all day looking for inspiration.

A guy in the Netherlands with a Sony contact got to listen to the album once through and he has kindly shared his opinion on the album-- I will select some of the info he has posted:

Oh and according to my Sony contact, I am the very first non-Sony person in The Netherlands to hear the album. I know it's not cool, but I'm SO going to masturbate over that later.

First of all; the handwritten message. It's 2 pages, black&white. I'm not familiar with Tori's handwriting, but it is said to be her handwriting. It starts with 'Dear confident' which reminded me of the theme to the Golden Girls. I couldn't copy it and I wasn't allowed to copy it fully, so I picked the 2 most interesting quotes.

,,I, like you, can't just turn my back on this very fragile Blue Ball that is our only known hope of existence."

She then talks about how 2 women seperately came up to her while she was standing in line at Starbucks (no, seriously) and one of them asked about the new album and encouraged her to 'tell it like it is' (which reminded me of Don Johnson, but nevermind). The second woman said something like ,,The war isn't some place far away, it's in my life too." or something like that - I don't have the exact quote. The note ends with the following quote:

,,Maybe these 2 women will never know the impact that they had on me and on this project. American Dolls Posse is my response."

Now, onto the album. Like I said, the tracklisting (including running times) is 100% correct from Yo George to Dark Side of the Sun.
Yo George
Piano/vocal. Nice. Previously posted lyrics are correct.

Big Wheel

We've all heard this one, it still reminds me of LeAnn Rimes.

Bouncing off Clouds
Cool. We all know this one as well. Very single-worthy. The end just sort of echoes out, sounds like something is breaking down.

Teenage Hustling
Piano/vocal intro, which is kind of soul-ish. Very loud guitar. The bridge is very similar to the part in Happy Phantom where she sings ,,the sun is getting dim/will we pay for who we been". Some actual lyrics:
,,Working since I was 14"
,,Save me from your dirty demons"
There are some repetetive lyrics, like where she says a word 3 times before going to the next word. I can't remember a thing about the song now, but I wrote down that this is going to kick ass when it's played live.

Digital Ghost
Nice, lots of vocal harmonies, guitar. Long vocal note at the end. Not a very specific song.

You Can Bring Your Dog
The intro has Tori singing 'ooh ooh ooh'... Another song with guitar. Kind of rock/blues-ey. Some lyrics:
,,You can bring your dog, I got 3"
,,I'm not living to be the missus"

Mr. Bad Man
Kind of up-beat, not that special. Some lyrics:
,,He's a bad man.
Mr. Bad Man
And she had enough of him
So the walls try to dry her eyes
'Cause the bad man made her cry"

Fat Slut
VERY loud guitar intro, nothing rhythmic, just LOUD guitar and an effect on her vocals. Kind of like a short She's Your Cocaine without drums.

Girl Disappearing
No guitar. Very nice strings, but it didn't sound like an orchestra to me. More like a quartet or something. It's a very calm song, very ominous. Reminded me of Gold Dust and Marianne, but more haunting yet not creepy. Has those drums where you don't use sticks but like... brushes?
I wrote down something stupid for lyrics, because this line makes absolutely no sense:
,,Girl dis, to some secret prison
Le in the morning, end of September"
The other line is correct though:
,,So I'm running to a constellation where they can still see you"

Secret Spell
We've heard it. As Molly Knight eloquently put it: I liked it better when it was still a secret.

Devils and Gods
Vocals and Keltish-sounding guitar. Is that even an English word? Like it's Scottish or Irish or something.

Body and Soul
Not David Bowie's less anoying brother. Seriously - they are sonically TOTALLY alike, except for the 'hoo-hah' - thank god.

Father's Son
Some acoustical guitar. Lots of lyric samples:
,,Steady girl, on your feet
You and your wondering"
,,So it ends, so it begins
I am my father's son"
,,Plant an apple seed in a trusting virgin girl"
,,Can you blame nature if she's had enough of us"
,,Plant an apple seed of hate in another father's son" - END

Programmable Soda

Strings (again, not an orchestra but a quartet or whatever), BRASS, piano.
Kind of whimsical, reminds me of the 'up' section of Wednesday. Lyric (lol):
,,Think of me as programmable Soda"

Code red

Cool. Dark. Cool outro. Guitar sounds like in The Beekeeper when she sings 'wrap yourself around the tree of life'.
Loud, cool guitar again, very dark piano. Lyric:
,,Slip and slide away from the charade"

Roosterspur Bridge
Pretty. Calm song with piano, acoustical guitar, bass and drums.
Lyrics (which were also vocal highlights for me)
,,Sometimes I watch the wonder in your eyes"
,,Sometimes I think I understand the fear in a boy, the fire in a man"

Beauty of Speed

Lots of piano. I remember wanting to write down 'carbon', but thinking 'no, that will give the wrong impression'. But very elaborate piano playing, let's keep it at that. I wasn't really paying attention at this point because I was talking to my contact at sony, about Tori coming to Holland, trying to arrange an interview and trying to get my own watermarked copy of the album, which may or may not work.

Almost Rosey

Has electrical guitar. The drums on the bridge are rather cool. Once again; not paying attention. But that also means this (and Beauty of Speed) weren't very attention-grabbing upon first listen.

Velvet Revolution
Ok. The whole track sounded very Russian to me, with the acoustical guitar sounding like ummm... Whenever you're watching a sitcom and they show Venice or some other Italian city.

Dark Side of the Sun
VERY anti-war. Semi-acoustical guitar, then electrical guitar on the chorus. The chorus is sung nicely (that's what my notes say). She holds the final note (on the piano) of the song for a VERY long time. Really great way to end the album.
Lyrics:
,,How many young men have to lay down"
,,For some sick promise of....." (couldn't understand all she was singing)
,,I wish .... (?) .... (?) turn back the clock"

Just For Fun...

Tori sure looks pretty in this picture, too bad she doesn't look like this all of the time...

Tori fans forget that Tori is just a regular lady...well, regular as she can be. So I would like to use some pics I found on the web site "A Dent in Tori's Ass" to illustrate what Tori looks like in her candid shots.

Okay-- this isn't a pic of Tori-- it's someone's signature, I thought it was funny, because it's a Tori lyric, but with a different Sophia than Tori intended in her lyric-- Sophia from the Golden Girls, I miss that show--- thank you for being a friend....

href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi_0jMFlMq4-TLgHnvdbFDMU7b9HRekHxjynZVMJFOaT4pqp2dhgVV4Hsz1gMZEp92CpVAYrrdhsM2uAsI1LZpjcYnQQQpNV2LGnh4G65a7nIEhNbcSzuJ91c_lL7nWyDk3I4lDxe94sNU/s1600-h/sleep.jpg">

Oh, sleepy Tori-- the stuffed animals are talking to her, (she doesn't know they are stuffed)

She may tear the flesh off of your bones with those chompers!!!

These two illustrate, fat and bloated Tori-- not often seen, thank God.

Tori the Vampire-- "I want to suck your blood"

I call this one greasy, greasy Tori-- One word: Shower!

I think Tori smelled something very, very bad.

As Startling as this one is-- Tori looks very colorful. Easy with the fan folks, don't blow her off her piano bench.

Tori looks angry, as she tries to explain something to a fan
