This is Tori's invitation to the Pope in English and Italian. If only tori would have been in rome when I was there!

should I write for a tori book?

I'm interested in writing something about tori for this article, but I don't know what yet...

"Blood Roses: The Cultural Witchcraft of Tori Amos"

With the release of her latest 2007 album, "American Doll Posse," Tori Amos has once again produced a unique piece of aggressive counter-culture, proving that she has lost none of her subversive and critical edge since she first amazed us with "Little Earthquakes." Inventive and hermetic with her lyrics, always political in interviews, creative and provocative in marketing her albums and tours, and passionately committed to a variety of social causes, Tori Amos remains a figure of considerable power and endurance within the fleeting world of alternative rock and roll. Unlike Madonna, who has redefined what it means to be a global celebrity a queer icon, Tori has more subtly maintained her status as a globally successful musician, activist, poet, and sexually ambiguous performer.

This volume will include essays on any aspect of Tori's music, performance, lyrics, politics, or history. Work that engages with her new album is especially welcome, as well as work that explores the interdisciplinary connections in her song-writing (her shared references with Neil Gaiman and the "Sandman" comics, for instance, and her interest in magic and the occult).

Publisher information will be forthcoming, but I anticipate strong interest.

Deadline: Sept 30, 2007. Please email 500-1000 word abstracts and CVs to: jbattis_at_gmail_dot_com.

Bloggy bloggy blog

Since Tori's album has been released-- I was going to discontinue bloggy, but I think I'll keep him around, since I love him a lot. Now I'm counting down to the tour of the US! Can't wait.

The picture above is of the lovely and awesomely talented Miranda July, whose new book "No One Belongs Here More Than You" just came out and is fantastic and full of really cool stories!

The state of the media!

Wow-- today, not 1, but 2 journalists gave completely false info regarding the Tori. First they said that she would be appearing on stage with 'NickelCreek" at a festival in August-- but they mistook the T for Fiona Apple. Then there was an article published that Tori and Alanis were teaming up for "the 5 1/2 Weeks Tour"-- which happened one time, and one time only back in the year 1999!!! Which I clearly remember going and seeing said- Tori and Alanis play together on Sept. 11 1999 in Tinley Park in Chicago-- wow- that is someone not checking their facts. If they can't get Tori news right- then don't believe anything about Iraq!

Changing topics--
I miss my PJ Harvey and am eagering awaiting a new album. She is due-- I was thinking, "well, she did just have one come out" then I remembered that the last came out in June of 2004 so it's been quite awhile. I would love to see PJ tour, I saw her in 2001 and in again in support of UH Huh Her was that 2004 then? I came across her demos of her first cd "Dry" on room509.net in the music section so you all should go and listen.

I love this version of God-- with the "you dropped a bomb on me" in the middle--3:30 into it-- this song really heats up-- check out Tori playing frantically on the edge of her piano bench and the "come on and do it again" complete with a flipping of the bird and a tori crotch grab at 4:50-- oh, the joy! I can only hope she'll roll it out in this style for the upcoming tour.

Tori's piano bench

Tori just said in an interview, that in concert she has to have her piano and vocal monitors at a certain level so she can hear herself, but she has to turn down the drum and bass because it will blow her ears out. So for the bass player to feel the rhythm of the band they put the monitor in the carpet and it vibrates so he can stand on a carpet and feel the drum beat, and they do the same for the drummer, but because Tori has her pedals etc-- she had the engineers rig her vibrating rhythm thing in her piano seat.
